Diving in Dahab 2000

18.-24. June 2000, Scuba Diving in Dahab, Egypt

We stayed in the Nesima Resort Hotel. A nice place with pool, poolbar and house reefe. In the hotel complex is also the Nesima Diving Center, very convenient.

From my Dive-Logbook:

We went to most of the following dive places by Jeep, 20 to 45 minutes from Dahab. Here in Dahab are some of the very well known dive places, like the Blue Hole and the Canyon. The Blue Hole wasen't that interesting for us. The Blue Hole starts to begin interesting in the depth fo 54 meters, to dangerous for holiday divers like me. Every year several divers die here because they get crazy.

19.6.	Coral Garden	Very nice corals, not too much fish
19.6.	Ricks's Reeve	We look down into the "Canyon", see below.
20.6.	The Bells and Blue Hole	The famous blue hole. We enter through the Bells, this is a canyon, going down from 0 to 30 meters, head first. Very impressive.Then we swim to the Blue Hole. Not to much to see there.
20.6.	The Islands	A shallow dive between coral islands. A school of young baracudas with hundreds of members. This was the nicest place from this week.
21.6.	The Canyon	A cave. Entering head first on about 15m and goining down to 30m. Going then up into a second cave on about 20m.
21.6.	Umm Sid	Some nice stone fishs, scorpionfishs, a sting ray
22.6.	Lighthouse	5 minutes away from the hotel, at the other end of Dahab. This is a commong place for people learning to scuba dive, so a lot of corals are already death.
	Three Pooles	A lot of nice fishes.
	Nesima House Reef	Nightdive, we hear whales singing, quite near, but could not see them.
